Boo!

Happy Halloween!

All but a few pieces of candy were gave away and out of the house. Yay! I did have 3 pieces and I had saved points to do those so that I would not feel like I was depriving myself. Just a matter of planning it out. Plus giving the last few kids hand fulls of candy LOL.

House is back on tonight....I have missed that snarkie doc. Well time to watch some TV....hope everyone had a great night.

Thankful for much

Today has been okay as far as Mondays go. I got my new bluetooth headset in and it worked fine with my phone. I just finally updated my old phone and got out of the age of black and white display and bad sounds. Also the new Cooking Light came in today and I am looking forward to reading it and picking some recipes to try out this coming month. I have decided along with my goal of posting more that I will also do a goal of cooking at home twice a week. Tomorrow will be the first day. I took out a couple frozen chicken breasts and put them in a ziplock and placed them in the fridge. I'll make them into something tomorrow. Step by step I will get there....get new habits, well actually they are old habits I let slide, back in place.

My only complaint for the day is that my back is bothering me. It's been almost 10 years since the disk in my back ruptured and I still live with pain most days. Some not so bad....others that suck. Today is on the more sucky side. In fact I have been cold this evening and had to crank the heat up and the back got so bad that I had to put an ice pack on it. But I need to remember what I am thankful for....as it could be worse. When it first happened it was so painful that I couldn't stand but for a few minutes or I would black out from the pain. I spent 2 months in bed barely able to get up to go to the bathroom and many months after that just getting to where I could walk for more than a few minutes without my whole right leg going numb. And thankfully the 30-45 minute leg cramps that left me sobbing because I couldn't get any relief are gone also. I am thankful that I was able to heal and that I didn't end up disabled for the rest of my life. I can live with a painful day compared to what it was back then.

I also thankful for all of you who read and help to inspire me.

Shopping done and out of the way

I got my shopping done even though I felt squeezed for time today. So I have healthy breakfasts and lunches for the whole week. One thing I really need to work on is the cooking at home. Seems I am always trying to work on this. Guess the first step is to start small...aim for a couple days a week. This is just for dinner (evening meal...some people would call it supper). As I am doing great at fixing my own meals for both breakfast and lunch (at work). I think this should be my next goal. I will start this one either this week or next. I just started one of using this blog more which is to start tomorrow but I have already been doing it a couple of days.

Painting perfect

I decided for the moment not to do my own blog design and to use a pre-made one. I think it is very nice and gives me a relaxed feeling when I look at it. I may change around a bit checking out different ones. Figuring out and fixing certain designs I found that didn't work like they were suppose to. Then maybe doing a little something of my own again when I have more time. Right now I need to spend my time getting my computer back to 100%....and mostly getting my weight where I want it to be. My health depends on it. Anyway for now it's bed time...and time to get a good nights sleep.

night Johnboy!

Working on it

If you are looking at the site at this moment (Saturday night) and wondering what is up...I am working on the design of the site and trying to get it where it looks like what I want. So it's going to look a little messed up at the moment but hopefully I'll get it doing what I want very soon.

Finding more good things to eat

I have tried a couple more Kashi frozen meals. The Chicken Pasta Pomodoro was good at 5 points. The Black Bean Mango was good but didn't stick with me and it was 7 points...so I will probably not do that one again. Another product that I just tried this week and find that works well is Sturm's Whole Grain Oatmeal. It is instant oat meal, mine is full of cranberries...and very good. Only 2 points a pack and very filling. It's became a staple in my morning breakfast....good for my cholesterol which I am watching. I fix it using the water from the water cooler since it has heated water on one side. Through a little splenda in and I am set to go.

I am still working on reinstalling all the stuff on my computer. I had forgot how time consuming it could be. I need to get my software for my mp3 player installed so that I can add some more songs to it soon. I can't find the CD for my TV card to reinstall it. Looks like I'll be tearing my office apart this weekend in the hunt....maybe it will be a few APs LOL.

More soon.

Tried some new stuff

I'm doing pretty good on the ww plan, keeping within my points...needing to work on that healthy oil still. I have lost 3 pounds in the two weeks back...I'll take it. I know it will be more soon as I get to moving a little more. Got to get the exercise built up to doing 4 points a day.

I wanted to share with you a couple of products I have tried that I find very helpful and they taste good. First one is Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Muffins. I got the cranberry apple ones and they are very good. They come 2 muffins to a pack, 140 cal for both so only 1 point each. Great for breakfast. The other one that I want to share with you is Kashi Southwest Style Chicken. Kashi is now making frozen meals and the one I tried so far was very good. And at 4 points it was a tasty and very filling lunch.

I am making a goal of posting more. First though I have to format and reinstall my computer to correct a software issue. So I will make that goal start next week. Hopefully I can do it sooner than that but I wanted to give myself time to do the computer repairs.

Quick word or two

I have been doing WW again for 2 weeks now. Last week's weigh in I had lost 1.5 pounds. I am hoping to have another decent lost this week. My weigh in day is Saturday. I actually like the morning meetings. No worrying if dinner or lunch made me weigh more.

Work has been busy but I finally got that monster spreadsheet done and I am praying they don't hand me another one like that. I am trying to catch up on reading the blogs I read and that is another reason I have been quiet...not enough time to do all I want to do right now.

Making the choice for ME

Saturday morning I woke up at 3 am struggled with something that had been on my mind. It was about going back to WW. I had been feeling the desire to go back since I started this challenge at the gym. Though the one at the gym is a good plan it is just not one I was clicking with and it left me longing to be back on WW. I was thinking of joining back up after the challenge was over. So in the middle of the night I was weighing out the reasons to stay with the current challenge. None were for me. All were from keeping hurting someone else's feelings or causing them problems. The straight fact came down that going back to WW was what I wanted. I decided to not waste another moment or let this month sidie away without doing what I knew I needed to do. I set my clock for 8 am, went back to sleep and went to the WW meeting that morning. I'll talk to the girls at the gym Tuesday and explain to them my choice. We have to do what we have to for ourselves.

The WW meeting was great! The leader I had before was still with them and she was wonderful as ever. It was about matching up nutrition terms and explaining what each of them was, from free radicals to omega3 fatty acids. I love seeing people get more informed about nutrition.

DH is going to be doing WW with me though he'll not go to the meetings. I know we are going to do great with it. I am looking forward to cooking some stuff, especially some hearty healthy soups and stews since it is the fall time of the year.

I also got a couple of things for my kitchen (part was using the money we got for our wedding gift). We got a candy red microwave and trash can. Plus some red dish towels and cloths. And a red dish drainer. I am moving my kitchen away from the blue I had used an as an accent color and going with the red. I like it much more and it is more vibrant. Trying to make the kitchen more more likable so I will cook at home often.

A busy week so far

Mid week already...it's been a maddening one for sure. Work has been crazy way beyond the normal stuff, failures in equipment and problems from our main feed provider. I was on the phone nearly non stop, finally had to give up getting the spreadsheet even touched for two days. By the time I got home I didn't want to touch a computer. So I am now playing catch up on blogs and finally feeling like making a post myself.

First thing I would like to note is that I didn't lay anyone off...wasn't my choice. I just had to do the paperwork for it cause I am the admin assistant. I sure haven't been happy about the way things went. My last comment was just an observation and trying to look at the bright side of things. Enough said on that subject.

I had been having the weird fluttering feelings in my chest again. Doesn't help on top of all the other stuff going on. I'll be glad once those feeling are gone again. The weather has turned much cooler, the trees are starting to turn color and I am longing for time to spend out in nature.

I'm wearing glasses again. For a few years my eyes seemed to be getting better but I was having some trouble lately and went back. They are dark frames...I"m such geek in them LOL. My DH thinks I look really cute in them. He's such a sweetie.
