Mowing done

Got the mowing done. I got it done in an hour which is not a bad time for the first mow of the season. I could tell it was the first time I had done it this year cause it really kicked my butt but I did it and I am feeling much better now. I am sure I will feel even better tomorrow. I could hear several other mowers running in the neighborhood. I am actually got to be doing that again cause it means warm weather is here and I am sooooooo happy for that.

Seeing improvements

All the walking is paying off, I feel myself getting stronger and doing better. It really feels good to see some progress. I was able to cut around 25 minutes off my walk around the mountain lake that I hike from time to time. I am actually getting close to my top time that I had before my mom passed away. We made it around in hour 10 minutes. I did end up with a blister on the side of my foot and I was really tired by the time I got to the car. However I was tickled with the time I made. It's so good to see that kind of improvement.

I'm dealing okay with work right now. I just do what I can cause that is really all I can do. I work my day out and then go home to enjoy my evenings. This evening is going to be spent inside because it rained and more so because the police are looking for some guy they think might be armed...he's wanted for shooting a guy in a near by town. We have actually had two calls from the reverse 911 warning system that we have now. This is the first time I have seen it used.

I did get to walk a little today at work. Did about half of the walk I been doing since I have the blister and didn't want to push myself and cause any problems.

Back down we go

Weight 281.5
That is the direction I like to see it go. I have been working out each day by walking. Sometimes I have even walked twice in a day. I have also been eating much healthier and that has made a big difference too. Lots of fruits and veggies. Makes a huge difference just to take the time to prepare some and have them in bags to pack for lunch.

Something that I noticed today is that in just those few pounds it made a difference in a couple of the sleeveless shirts I wear. They have a small split at the bottom and the corners had been flipping up on the shirt and hitting my arm when I walked. Once I dropped those pounds it stopped doing it as it was not stretching the shirt to cause it to curl them that way.

I want to say thank you for the comments lately. The support has been a big help. And Mich, I did get the squash and zucchini planted and they sprouted and have started to grow. Think they will do a lot of growing this week because it has rained a lot in the last few days. Deb, the tomato and cucumber salad I seasoned with a little salt and a few sprays of dressing (balsamic kind).

I got a new pair of shoes today. They are new balance and an off road shoe....with a brown and green color scheme. I think I am going to really like them and they will be good for some of the paths and trails I like to hike over. The guy at the shoe store told me to spray them with a fabric protector. I never thought about doing that...it makes so much sense. I think that will help to keep them looking so much better. I got a can and did it already so we'll see how that works.

Weekend recap

Weight 280.5
Going back down again. I am hopeful that I can keep it moving down now that we are walking on a regular basis. Plus a little more control over the food with cooking at home more.

The rains stayed away during the funeral, in fact the sun came out and I got a little bit of a sunburn because I wasn't thinking about the sun and being careful. Thanks for those that sent wishes for good weather.

My weekend was a good one. We went and watched Next at the movies. I really enjoyed it. I made the popcorn my lunch and was able to enjoy that treat.

Because it rained so much we did not end up going walking until that evening. It was a short walk since it was getting dark but not as short as it was going to be since we had to reroute coming to the house. We ran up on 3 dogs, they looked to be young pit bulls, and didn't want to get close to them. Once we got back home I called and reported the dogs. Now I know the dogs might be harmless but I live on a street with a ton of kids and I didn't want to take a chance.

Sunday's walk was a nice one. The wind was giving us a nice breeze to walk in. We did 45 minutes at Warriors park, around the circle. The mp3 players really helped with that walk as it is one we have done many times. I had to push my DH to keep him from stepping in a pile of doggy doo. He was trying to set his mp3 player to shuffle and even though I was telling him to watch out he wasn't paying attention. Luckily I got him pushed out of the way at the last minute or he might have been riding home barefoot.

The one thing I forgot to get done this weekend was grocery shopping. Luckily I found enough stuff to bring with me to work today. Will have to do some shopping tonight though.

Late but here it is

Weight 281.5
In the end I stayed the same. This is the week however that bloat has set in and my weight should have been up a little normally so I am not bothered by a maintain. Plus I am dealing with a huge amount of stress due to work. I really can't say much about it at the moment but I will comment that I do not do well when stuck in limbo on stuff.

We have been walking a lot. Sunday we went for our normal hike around the mountain lake but since this was the first time we had done it this year it really kicked my butt. The good news is I felt much better yesterday because of that walk. I plan on attempting it again in a couple of weeks but making sure I take water with me when I do. The walk normally takes us an hour but it took us an hour and half (the trail mark says it is about a 90 minute hike)....which is still much better than the first couple of times we walked it, about 5 years ago, at 2 and half hours. I know I got dehydrated since I didn't take any thing to drink with me....I know better and will be taking water with me for anything longer than 30 minutes.

I have a lot of work to do to get back in shape. It seems more doable to me this year. Last year when the little flutters in my chest were happening they seemed to drain me down. Though I have had a couple of those in the last month they haven't drained me like last year. I think that might because I am taking CoQ10 supplements....along with some flax and fish oil each day.

Since we did the long walk Sunday we didn't walk yesterday. However we did mow the lawn and did it much faster than we had been doing it. We got it done in 30 minutes, 15 for each of us. Just goes to show how much the mountain hike helped even though it was rough on us...not as rough on my DH as it was on me but still did us both good.

Still moving right along

Yesterday turned out to be a nice day. We didn't get the rain that was being called for. So I was able to get out and get in a walk. I had planned for it to be 30 minutes but ended up walking for 45. I was very happy to have the music with me because that really helped to keep me moving that last 10 minutes. Which on the route I took was up a steep incline. I know from before this hill will get to where it doesn't seem like such a big deal I am looking forward to that time.

I am not sure if I will get to walk today or not. We are suppose to get some nasty thunder storms. I actually like to listen to those as I find it relaxing as long as they aren't hitting too close to where I am. If we do get the storm I will have to figure out something else to do.

Oh by the way the scale this morning was finally starting to move down again. I am hopeful that I will have a good weigh in this week.

More on walking

Yesterday was my DH's birthday. Since he couldn't think of anything he wanted for his birthday I got him an mp3 player like mine. He decided that he really liked it once he got to playing with it. I think he'll enjoy using when we are on flat trails that we do all the time. You can turn them down where you still hear the music but can talk too. I think music is a huge help to any exercise routine for me. It's very important to me that we keep doing our walks and with it happening some times in the very hot part of the day and with the sun beating down on us then music will make that seem better. I know it would have been nice to had yesterday for that long walk we took.

Another thing that would have been nice would have been thought to grabbed a good pair of my walking socks yesterday. I grabbed a pair of nike ones I had and they are just too big for me and I think that part of why the blister tried to start yesterday. Least that seems to have healed up and not be bothering me at all now. I am going to find some more good walking socks this year. This is one place I wish they didn't chance so much, soon as I find a kind I like they don't have them the next year....that's the reason I ended up with the nike ones that are just a tad too long on my feet.

Wanting to get started with walking

I got the yard mowed Tuesday and made it without having to go get a hay bailer though I did have to open the part where it tosses out the grass for the back 1/3 of it because it was bogging it down so much it kept killing the mower over and over again....even with me going really slow. It felt much easier to push around this time than a couple weeks ago so that is good. I am looking forward to when I can do all of the back without getting tired.

It's been raining just a little the last couple of days. Was suppose to be thunderstorms but so far I am seeing only sprinkles. Hopefully starting tomorrow the weather will be better. I am really looking forward to start getting in a walk outdoors each day. Working my way up to being able to walk several hours at a time. Hopefully working my way up to hike a couple of steep trails that I want to do again. I think I will work on getting some tunes on my mp3 player.

Feeling good

I'm doing really well. I have gone and worked out at Curves the last two days. I will probably go today but if I don't then I will go tomorrow so that I have three days in. I have been using the software I bought from fitday.com over a year ago. I had started last year but I was trying to do it and WW together. It works much better for me to not try and do both. I have decided to stop going to the WW meetings as they truly weren't working for me right now. WW does work, don't get me wrong....it' is just time for me to do something else now....to move on and up really. I will continue to use things I have learned from them along with all the other health information I have picked up from my reading addiction (knew my bookworm-iness would come in handy some day).

I am focusing eating healthy and being active. I love how the software I am using breaks everything down. I can see how much fiber, sodium and all kinds of other stuff I am getting in for the day. Though a little more work than just doing points it is letting me see how to do a more healthier picture.

I will weigh in on Saturdays at home. I have a nice digital scale that seems to be very accurate. I will continue to post my weigh-ins here. I am going to enjoy being able to sleep in an extra hour on Saturday. Then I can get up, weigh and have a healthy breakfast....getting the morning started off right from the get go.

As far as support I have all of you. And you all have gave me more motivation than the meetings by a long shot. I'll have my support group in that way.

Delivery successful

I took half a day of vacation today to get out and enjoy the pretty weather some instead of being stuck in the office. Plus the dishwasher was being delivered. We got the dishwasher and it works fine for us. I showed my DH how it worked has he's never had one before.

I have started going back to work out at Curves. I had got out of the habit of doing it again after being sick a couple of times. I have been both days and will be going tomorrow too. Trying to figure out how to do that best since I got my WW meeting too. I had joined a challenge at Curves where you work out three times a week for six weeks. In order to get my third time in this week I have to work out tomorrow. I figure I could grab something light to eat so I don't feel week. Maybe a WW bar or something.

I am going to start some herbs to grow outside. I'll start them first in a mini green house that I can keep in the house and then move them out after it stops having some hard frosts. A friend got it for me cause I was talking about wanting to grow some herbs and asked when was the best time to do it. I'm thinking cilantro, basil, mint, parsley and maybe some oregano. The herbs will be healthy and taste great. I am also planning to make big use of the farmers market for some goodies.

Loving the warm weather

Yesterday was another beautiful day. I got in two walks during my breaks at work even though on the second walk I had to talk myself into it. My stomach was a little sore...I think from where I tighten my abs when I walk. But I pushed on past that, didn't let the heat stop me as it was sunny and nearing the top of the 70s....which wouldn't really normally be hot but is a bit of a jump for right now. Once I got home and had dinner, my DH and I went for a walk, this one 30 minutes. I was amazed at how fast I was able to walk however I did pay the price with an awful shin cramp last night and sore muscle this morning. I guess I need to do a warm up and then stretch some before I start walking.

I'm so glad to see the warm weather showing up. I do hate that this weekend is going to be cool but I plan to still make the best of it. My DH and I are going to go watch a movie this weekend again and we have decided to use the mall as a place to get a little walk in.

One thing about my walks this year as compared to last year is that starting out I seem to have more stamina that I did last year even after a few weeks of going all the time. I think the weird chest feelings I was having last year caused this. When they were happening it ran me down bad. And for a while they were happening a lot. When they do happen now I have been lucky enough that they are short and rare. I think part of this is due to the supplements I am taking. I am taking flax seed oil with my morning vitamins and a Q10 and fish oil combo in the evening. The Q10 is suppose to help the heart and the healthy oils are good for the body including the heart. I really feel that this year I am back to myself.

On a food note I have been much better to get in my oils and milks. Also I found a couple of new Kashi meals to try. The one I had today is good. It is the Pesto Pasta Primavera, 6 points and made with canola oil and whole wheat pasta. I'll get it again for sure.

This morning when I stepped on the scale I saw a loss. My weigh-in is not till Saturday. I'll post how much then but I was really glad to see the scale moving down.

Making good out of a bad beginning

Today started out with me running behind, finding that my fridge was very bare when it came to some healthy choices to just grab and go. For breakfast I did an egg mcmuffin which is the lowest cal fast food I could find. Then for lunch I had a healthy roast beef wrap from subway. Our Subway now is offering raisins and sliced apples as a side. So I grabbed a pack of apples and saved them for my afternoon snack at work.

It was beautiful out today. I am not sure what the high was though I think it was mid 70s or higher. I was able to use my 15 minute breaks to get two nice walks in. I was going to go walking this evening also but I ran out of daylight before I got too. Still I think over all the day was a good one....especially for it to be one I wasn't well prepared for when I started the day out.

March 08, 2007

Balancing act

I got my bosu in yesterday. It was much heavier than I thought it would be. Seems to be nice construction and heavy duty materials. So hopefully it will last me for a long time. I was able to balance on it okay. I was kinda worried I wouldn't be able to stand without falling right off of it. I do wobble some but mostly I am okay. I can tell it really works my body to balance. I watched some of the video that came with it but only did a few moves. I want to get use to the balance part first. Where it is around 10 inches high it makes the stepping on and off a little rough on my knees. I think as I get use to moving more that it will become easier.

We have more pretty weather this week. Saturday is suppose to be 66 but with a chance of showers...then Sunday 69 which will be great. I am so glad to see warmer weather. Looking forward to a lot of outdoor time. Especially with the time change. By the way if you didn't know already it is changing early this year. We will change the clocks this weekend. So next week I'll have that extra hour of daylight and that is great with the weather improving. I don't enjoy the getting up early and will fight for a week to get my sleep back to normal but after that is going to be wonderful.

The place looks awesome

I didn't get my workout yesterday because of being so tired from not getting much sleep. I however used today to get to Curves and get a good work out. The new building looks great. Bee (the owner) did such a fantastic job on the place. The colors are a yellow and purple, there is much more room. There is going to be a new piece of equipment soon...one that is used for stretches.

I finally got my WW magazine...the meeting place has had theirs for two weeks and B&N had them in this weekend when I was there. It also said that my subscription was running out on the next issue but I checked my check book and seen where the check I wrote them cleared the end of November. I think they just have stuff way behind when it comes to sending them out to homes.

Can already tell it is helping

I can already tell a difference in how I feel from the exercising. I was able to get a couple of hours house work done tonight before I ran out of steam. Part of that was doing some stuff in the kitchen to help make it more "friendly" for my cooking at home.

I have a three day weekend for the second week in a row. It's really nice as this is the first year I have been able to get holidays off like this. So since tomorrow is suppose to be warm, 63 degrees for the high, I am planning on getting a walk in the outdoors.

December 28, 2006

Taste testing

I got back to Curves yesterday and got in a real good workout. My muscles let me know that I had not been there for a while. I felt much better today because of getting that work out in. Tonight I got in a session of dancing, once again really feeling it all through my body. Going to take time to work back up to where I was but the good thing is I enjoy doing it and especially how it makes me feel after wards.

I tried a couple things today. One was ribs from a local place, I had the points for it but wish I had gone for something else cause the amount of fat in it made me feel ill. I am not use to eating stuff like that anymore and would have been much happier with some salmon. Looking at it, that is a good thing, means that my taste preference is for much better for me stuff. The other thing I tried was the new Special K chocolately delight....one word YUCK! The flakes were okay but the chocolate chip things were waxy and once I ate the few in the bottom of the bowl my mouth had this oily feeling so I took a drink of ice water and the stuff literally turned to wax and harden up in my mouth. It was so gross.

October 24, 2006

Tried some new stuff

I'm doing pretty good on the ww plan, keeping within my points...needing to work on that healthy oil still. I have lost 3 pounds in the two weeks back...I'll take it. I know it will be more soon as I get to moving a little more. Got to get the exercise built up to doing 4 points a day.

I wanted to share with you a couple of products I have tried that I find very helpful and they taste good. First one is Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Muffins. I got the cranberry apple ones and they are very good. They come 2 muffins to a pack, 140 cal for both so only 1 point each. Great for breakfast. The other one that I want to share with you is Kashi Southwest Style Chicken. Kashi is now making frozen meals and the one I tried so far was very good. And at 4 points it was a tasty and very filling lunch.

I am making a goal of posting more. First though I have to format and reinstall my computer to correct a software issue. So I will make that goal start next week. Hopefully I can do it sooner than that but I wanted to give myself time to do the computer repairs.

The almost wasn't walk

I almost didn't post today. It was another rough day at work and something that happened during the last moments I was there set me off big time. At one point I thought about getting on here and posting a warning and just let loose with a rant but then I ended up going out to eat and ate my anger. It's not good but it's okay because I did go out afterwards and buy some stuff at the store so I am now well stocked and more ready when it comes to what I eat. As far as work well the short of it was that it seems hard workers like myself always get more piled on us while we are being told to help those that refuse to do the hard work. Beyond that I am not going to get into it and get myself upset again. Why I am not upset now? Was it because I ate my anger? Nope. Then why? Well because I had a good long walk that helped to make me feel better. This walk almost didnt' happen. After the day I had and eating my anger I almost didn't do it but then I opened my email and there was a comment, someone telling me what a good job I was doing. Thanks Lynette...your support was what I needed. So I put on my walking shoes, laced them up and headed out with my DH in tow (he needed the exercise too).

Those comments we make on each others blogs....somedays they make all the difference.

Oh...btw check out Lynette's blog....she's a great read. http://bigassbelle.blogspot.com/

A feel good moment

Weight 271
I didn't realize what a drop this was till I looked back at my last weigh in. That makes me feel better and trust me I can use a lot of those "makes me feel better". So for this week a nice 2.5 pound drop. This was yesterdays weigh in but I didn't blog yesterday. Mostly cause of having a million things to do and dreading this coming month. I had not been able to say anything about it before now but at work we are selling all of our dial up accounts to a bigger company. The notices for that went out today. I hope work will not be as bad as I am dreading. I have been stressed with this and family things to the point that my migraines came back. Another thing for work is they have what is left of the company up for sale, if we don't get bought I won't have a job by fall.

Anyway on to better things...I did manage to go for a hike yesterday. We made it around the lake in a hour 5 minutes. Not as good as my 55 minute time that I had been able to do when I was at the lower weight but much better than what I was doing after the slip and gain. That is chopping off 15 minutes on it. I was pleased but quiet beat LOL. The actual time gave for this hike is 90 minutes so it's a good time. Also another milestone...I am fiting into the stretch jeans I got for work comfortably (they are brown and beige colored so okay for the dress code.) I had been fiting in them but I wasn't comfortable and it caused the disks in my lower back to flair up. I am very happy with being able to get into them and wear them. The cool thing about them compared to my dress slacks is that I can wear my tennis shoes with them. So if I want to head out for a midday walk no problem. Plus I am thinking I can wear these to work out with and then go home and change into something afterwords. Will have to see about that last part. Would make doing curves sooooooo much easier.

4th July

Just a quick post. First Happy Fourth of July! Today has been very good. My sister-in-law spent the night and we all got up early this morning. I had a small snack of almond and then we took off walking around the neighborhood before the day had a chance to get hot. Then after that we took a few moments to rest and went to watch the parade. It was pretty good, nice floats and all. Then we took off to get some lunch. After lunch we went to a park that has some walking trials we have not be on before. It's very hilly and I think it will make a great place to walk. We only did about 25 minutes as it was extremely hot out today. Later tonight we drove near where they were doing the fireworks and walked down to watch them. Right before time it came a nice little down pour but lucky we were near a bank that has an over hang so we were able to get there to stay dry. Then the started the fireworks. They were really nice this year. Part of the way through the rain stopped and I was able to get out of under the over hang and see them better. Then we all walked back to the car. It was a pretty good walk as I had parked far enough away to not be in bad traffic. Plus the walk was up hill.

Forecast rain

Weight 275
That is the weigh in from Sunday. I am not worried about it cause I think it is all bloating. I have been on point and worked out most days. I have missed the last two due to raining constantly but I did do some shopping (that had me walking around the grocery store for a bit) and some house work and laundry. So I have not been sitting on my butt the whole time. Plus Saturday I worked out at Curves, went for a walk midday and then tried to do a third one that turned into a 15 minute sprint trying to get back in cause it started to rain LOL. I do need to walk today and hopefully the weather will work with me on this.

I didn't get enough sleep last night. I will have to try and get into bed early tonight to make up for it. The sleep thing is one I have a problem with a lot as there are just not enough hours in the day to do everything that needs done.

The weather is looking like more and more rain but least it looks like it might lighten up soon and hopefully just be occasional showers. I prefer it to rain at night...it makes for good sleeping and doesnt stop me from doing what I want to do in the day.

June 24, 2006

Back to the weigh lifting

I have started to go back to Curves. I have been paying for it but hadn't been back since my father passed away, between work and family I let time become an excuse. So Thursday I went back and then I was there again today. I plan on going Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to get my 3 days in. That way I only have two days that are more troublesome because of work. It felt good to be working out again there. However I could not for the life of me get my heart rate up where it should be. I think this from taking the meds I do for migrains...they are actually a BP meds but used to treat migrains. I have never had a problem with my BP. I need to ask my doc about this and maybe one of the trainers at Curves to see if anyone else has had this happen. I know I got a good workout today, I was sweating like crazy.

June 21, 2006

success

That is what I call pulling myself up and out for a walk even though I wanted to go to bed more than anything. Also good about it was that we beat our time by 5 minutes that we normally walk the 2 miles. YAY! Now I am going to bed for some needed sleep.

June 18, 2006

A good weigh in

Weight 274

Ah much better....a 2 pound drop this week. We have been walking most days and the ones where we miss we make up for it with a long walk the next day. Food has been good as far as being on points. I had points to have ice cream as a treat last night...I mean a rich "treat" kind. I do want to start working on trying to do more healthy foods all the time and not just staying on points. Being on plan with the points is good....eating that way and almost all healthy type foods though would be great.

We are gonig to do a hike in here a few so I'll be fixing up water bottles to take so that we stay hydrated. Time to start getting ready for that...find the sunscreen and everything.

June 11, 2006

Playing catch up

Weight 276
Okay that is half a pound...it's still a drop. Plus with all the workouts this weekend I expect to see an even bigger drop soon.

Wow what a week. I got my bood work done Thursday. I passed out after they got the blood drawn....least I was able to give them warning and tell them I wasn't feeling so good. I am so curious to see what my blood sugar was because even though I get yucky feeling when they draw blood, too much poking cause my viens don't like to play along nicely, I haven't passed out before.

I have stayed on plan with my eating and exercising, though I did miss Friday...however I made up for it yesterday and today. Yesterday was a 2 hour hike to the radio towers on the mountain. Talk about a workout giving a good butt kick....I was drained but it was in a good way. Then today we went for a hike around the dam and made it just in time to miss the down pour that hit just as we got in the car. We then got another walk in this evening. For a total of 85 mintues.

We went shopping and got some food stuff to make it healthy through the weekend. I didn't get much to cook right now as I need to go over a few recipes and I figure I can make some stops on the way home.

June 04, 2006

Going down

Weight 276.5
OH yea! The scale is moving down still. Thursday and Friday I didn't get any activity in because it rained both days and Friday I had a crappy headache. So to make up for yesterday we went for a hike in the Mountains around the lake. It took us a hour and 10 minutes to go around, the trail is listed as being 90 minutes so we made it under the time listed. However 2 years ago after loosing down (227 lbs) and hiking all the time I was able to do it in 55 minutes. So my goal for fitness is to get back where I can do that run in the same amount of time I use to be able to do it in. That means cutting 15 minutes. I think it is very doable. I am also wanting to get out and get some walking in today but right now it is raining. It's suppose to rain all week too. I am hopeing for some times where it stops long enough to get some walking in. But if it doesn't I have back up plans for getting some activity in.

I am very happy about my weight going down like it is. It's been so long since I have been in this place where I feel in control and actually loosing some weight. I missed being this person that I am now. I also missed being active.

May 31, 2006

Finally getting to post

Wow my webpage has been down for couple hours. I thought I was never going to get to post to the blog. I sure hope that is not something that happens much.

Yesterday I got 20 minutes of exercise from mowing the yard. I wasn't feeling great so I figured that was better than nothing at all. Hopefully today I can get a long walk in…or at least one longer than 20 minutes.

My doctor appointment went well. I am going to get some blood work done and see how things are there and then back for a follow up in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to the blood work to find out if my cholesterol is going to be better.

I did manage to go shopping yesterday and get some summer shirts for work. I didn’t spend a lot of money because I am planning on getting down where these are too big on me in a few months. I really miss that part of it even though it can be expensive replacing a lot of clothes.

I have been doing well on my eating. I do need to start working on cooking at home more. I have got in several magazines (Cooking Light, Health, Eating Well and Weight Watchers) and need to try some of the recipes out of them…especially ones that use lots of healthy veggies.

One thing I am really thankful for right now is that I finally found my motivation again. It had been so long of trying and not getting the steam to even get a real start. I feel like I am back on the road to health. I feel like I can truly do it and that I want to do it enough to get it done. I know there are those of you out there that can really understand that feeling. It was like being lost on my journey to good health but now I have found the path before me again. Alot of it has to do with having the support and help of someone doing it with me. I really needed that and I never would have thought it was going to happen. I don't feel all alone anymore.

Pretty good day

Yep I actually had a pretty good day. The weekend did not turn out as I had wanted but today was okay. I went to the cookout with my best friend. I ate good but at the same time picked very healthy stuff like a lot of fresh veggies and corn on the cob. Then we went and played horse shoes. This was a first for me and though I managed to get a ringer I pretty much sucked at it. Takes practice and throwing around a metal object and trying to get it to land in one small spot well...it's going to take some working on.

Afterwards this evening Mark and I went to the lake and walked around the island for 45 minutes. I was tired but it felt good. I realized during the walk that I had missed my vitamins and most of all my iron the last couple of days. That along with the heat is probably why I felt so drained both days. So I put the iron right beside where I leave my ring and watch when I take them off so I will remember to take it tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow....I have a doctor appointment. Hopefully that all goes well. I got a lot to talk to her about. Including how much stomach acid my body seems to be making these days. Think it's on overdrive or something.

Weekly Weigh In

Weight 279.0
It's working....the scales are moving down...a lost of 2.5 lbs. I have been eating good and getting exercise each day. Friday we walked for 40 minutes in town, then yesterday we went to the Green Belt and walked for a hour. We went all the way to where the little waterfalls are, one of my favorite spots on that trail, and then back. Plus yesterday I got in a hour and 15 minutes of light activity doing house work. Mark is doing great too. In fact he lost more weight than me.

I'm gaining...

....stamina that is. Woohoo! I was able to do much better on the walk tonight than I had all week. We walked for 45 minutes and it felt great. This has been a week straight for the exercise and 3 days for the eating. I am very happy that the rain stopped midday and that it cleared up so nice afterwards.

5 days straight

I feel like we are doing pretty good. Yesterday we got in a 30 minute walk. Today we ate healthy following the old Winning Points plan and then got in a 25 minute walk. I feel like I am on a roll...5 days straight of getting in some kind of activity. Now I am looking forward to my feet not hurting so much when I walk. Usually get over it faster than this once I start back up walking but then I have gained a few pounds and that might be what is wrong.

Fine tuning and getting more play time

I spent some time today touching up the site and getting the colors to match better to the logo I had made. On a fitness note I got out and went for a walk on the local walking trail. It was an enjoyable walk on a very nice day. After the walk I laid down on the bed and watched the clouds move in the sky out the window. I started to do a lot of thinking. I came to an insight....when I was young I didn't really have any weight problem. I was in fact pretty skinny. I was thinking about what was different about then. One big thing jumped out at me. When I was young I would go out and play for hours after school. But as we get older we don't play anymore. So I am going to back to playing. Probably not dump trucks and tree climbing (was quiet the tomboy when I was growing up) but taking time for long walks, some sports and other things that are "fun" play.

New Look

I have a new look to the blog and it turned out much easier than I thought. Only problem was my paint program hosing up on me in the middle of the process. Thankfully I was able to do a print screen and save the picture. I however was not able to add the rest of what I had planned to do to it but that is okay...it works the way it is.

It's the weekend and I am so glad. Plus it is suppose to be a very NICE weekend. I plan to get some walks in and maybe a little pre-work to my herb garden. Hopefully the weather will work with me on this cause I do want to get in a lot of activity this weekend.

choo choo

Well after a crazy day at work filled with lots of excitement I finally got home but nearly got run over by some mad woman on the way. Once I was home I spent 24 minutes on my exercise bike. I was panting during the last couple of minutes telling myself I could do it. I kept going till the music I was playing stopped. I am so out of shape but that is going to change. It's time to get back on track....yea get the train back on the track.

Come on, ride the train, hey, ride it, woo woo
Come on, ride the train, hey, ride it, woo woo
Come on, ride the train, woo woo, hey
Ride it, woo woo
Come on, ride the train
Woo woo, hey, ride it, woo woo
Come on, ride the train
It's the choo choo, ride it, woo woo
Come on, ride the train, it's the choo choo train
Come on, ride the train, it's the choo choo
Ride it, woo woo
Come on, ride the train, it's the choo choo train

Working on doing better

It's been while since I posted. I wanted to post but it doesn't seem to have been happening. It is hard to sometime bring myself to use my computer at home after sitting in front of one for 8 hours and there are days that it is too busy here at work for me to take time to write anything. Time to move past that and work to find the time to update....not that anyone is reading but it matters to me in getting all this out....this blog is for me after all and to help me lose the weight. Another thing I need to do is post to my blog first and then go read the blogs I read afterwards.

As far as weight goes I have lost and I have gained. My doctor told me I lost 3 pounds over the Christmas holidays. I was suprised....seems it must have been a good week during my visit to her. I will go into WW and one week I lose and another I gain back. I know it's because I am having such a hard time getting myself back on track and then staying there once I do. I also am having a problem with feeling well enough to exercise....this is a major problem cause if I was execrising regularly everything else would fall in to place better just because I would feel better.

I have had some good days. I have got a few workouts in. I made taco soup which was low point and very good. I decided that the fitday program was very good but not sure that I will use each part of it....however it is a great program.

My best friend ordered me a book as a late Christmas present. It's the Superfoods HealthStyle. I need to check with her today and see if that came in....I am really looking forward to reading it. I know FatBlogger has had wonderful things to say about the book. Each time I would read something I just couldn't wait to get my copy of the book.

During the last week I started to use a hypnosis cd a friend made for me. She just got her certification and I am one of her first subjects. It has helped me to sleep better. I think it has helped me to make some better choices food wise which is one of the main things it focuses on. I'm going to keep trying it and see how it goes.

So I face the music and get my butt on the road to a happier healthier me.

Making steps in the right direction

I made it into Curves once last week. It had been a while since I had been. My plan for this week is to make it to Curves to work out at least 3 times this week. I really need to get myself into some regular exercise. It's hard to believe how far I have fallen back on doing that. I use to workout, walk, hike or do something almost every day. And I felt good cause I did that.

I am also working on eating better. I went shopping tonight and got food to fix a whole week worth of meals. I was doing this before I got sick and it was working out well. I have the makings for taco soup, my home made gyros, baked chicken (sort of like a chicken tender but much healthier), 40 clove garlic chicken and tacos. I got a lot of veggies to use for sides. I am also thinking about making a stuffed peppers at some point.

I go to the doctor tomorrow to find out the results of heart monitor I was wearing. I also need to ask her about a mole like place on my back. I can't see it well but I think it has changed color and it feels different.

Finally

It's taken me a while since being sick to finally get back to working out. I got on the exercise bike tonight and did 18 minutes. Was how long the music was I picked out. I put a favorite song in the middle and one at the end to help me get through. Works great by the way. I am all sweaty now but feeling better. I am very proud of myself that I did it even though I was tired and have bad cramps to boot. At the 15 minute mark I heard this little voice say there you did 15 minutes but I kept going till after the music went off to make it an even 18.

I have got so out of shape conpared to what had achieved but I will get back to where I was and I WILL get even better than that.
